Does SAP GUI for Java work with SCM 7.0?

I'm currently running the 7.3 release of the Java GUIs on my Macbook (OSX 10.9.5).  I generally have no problems with access the SAP environments except for the planning books in APO.  When I attempt tcode /SAPAPO/SDP94 I receive the following error (SDP controls could not be created):
